Support

Artist Support

Artist support at APS provides clear, practical support for artists at different stages of their practice. We offer mentoring and coaching, alongside funding and access support. Our approach centres artist agency, clear information, and support that builds skills rather than replacing voice or authorship.

Mentoring and Coaching

Professional mentoring and coaching for artists working in the UK. These paid packages offer structured thinking, critical feedback, and practical guidance to help artists develop work, make decisions, and move projects forward. Support can be self funded or included within funding applications such as Arts Council DYCP, Arts Council Project Grants, and a-n bursaries. Access Support routes are available where needed.

DYCP & Funding Mentoring

Strong funding applications start with a clear understanding of your practice, your goals and why now is the right time for your development.

Rather than writing applications for artists, these sessions provide space to develop ideas, refine your thinking and build confidence in talking about your work. Whether you’re applying for Developing Your Creative Practice (DYCP), Project Grants or another funding opportunity, the focus is on strengthening both your application and your artistic practice.

Funding and Access Support

Clear guidance for artists navigating funding, Access Support, and budgeting for professional help. This support explains major UK funding routes in plain language and sets out how APS mentoring and support can be used ethically within applications. All services can be self funded or included in a funding budget.

Creative Café

Creative Café offers a relaxed, community-focused space for artists to work, sketch, write and connect with others. Sessions provide an informal opportunity to spend time in the gallery and work alongside others in a supportive environment.

Creative Café takes place every Wednesday and Thursday, (10am – 4pm)

Tea and coffee are available, and you’re welcome to bring your own work or project to work on.

Booking is essential. Please email us in advance to let us know you’re coming, as we are unable to accommodate drop-ins. This helps us make sure there is space for everyone.
